Display corruption on 1.8.0/Mesa 7.8

I'm seeing the same on my Intel G45 GPU with Xserver 1.7.6, Mesa 7.7, 
libdrm 2.4.20 and kernel 2.6.33 (running on Mandriva Cooker x86_64). The 
same problem also happened with libdrm 2.4.19, so I would suspect mesa.
