Thank you Julian, you pointed exactly right.
I rebooted with modeset=1 and ran xrandr and the output was indeed
changed to VGA1 and LVDS1.
xrandr --output VGA1 --auto --output LVDS1 --off
I got my mouse pointer back and can work on my VGA screen, many many thanks.
