This issue last since 2.6.27 introduced KMS and with every kernel
release I hopped it fixed the problem, but it does not.

My current box is an HP laptop 6530b with GM45 graphic card.

Do you also have problem panning in GIMP and having multiple display
displaying in a freezing xrandr?
