Adding support for a (multi-)touchscreen - where best to add it?

I wasn't even using HAL, but was forcing the drivers to load via xorg.conf
- directly tying the Device section to the appopriate /dev/input/event<n>
device.

This was with panels supplied by both 3M and DanoTech.
