Thanks for the info Eric.

As I'm the intel driver maintainer in Mandriva, as we're approaching 
release and as I'm also affected by this, what would you recommend for 
distros intending to ship latest stable -intel and libdrm?

I can't very well ship things in their current state when I cannot get 
my own hardware to work!

Can you suggest a suitable workaround to get back to the kind of 
performance that 2.6.1 with older libdrm on .27 kernel had with EXA? 
That would be a 100 times better than currently and even if it's an 
xorg.conf option it would be certainly more favourable than the 
alternatives we're currently facing... :(

FWIW, I have managed to get acceptable performance out of a 2.6.1+older 
libdrm on newer kernel + UXA, but it's quite flaky, has artefacts on the 
screen and crashes when switching to vt1. I think these issues are 
addressed now, but upgrading the driver and libdrm kills performance so 
it's not really an option :s
