True, but even if you're scaling output to a truly interlaced display,
scaling a single field will not give you correct spatial behavior.  You
can think of this is as a frequency-domain aliasing problem in the
vertical direction, if you like.  The best solution would still be to use
a fancy motion-search deinterlacer, and then throw away half the output lines.
