fbdev is unsuitable for EXA?

Hi, all
My processor hava a 2D accelerator, so I want to add EXA support to Xorg's
fbdev driver.
But the following link says that fbdev is unsuitable for EXA.

I do not quiet understand this. Is this means that my plan is impossible?
