Xephyr, DRI, and compiz

I tried to get Xgl running with compiz.

Compiz seems to work, but glxinfo shows that only the Mesa software
renderer is available.

In Xglx, glxgears consumes 100% CPU. How can I run an OpenGL program
with hardware acceleration in Xglx?
