Hmm... 1.4 seems to be a bust... On my system xorg 1.4 (Gentoo ~amd64 
x11-base/xorg-server-1.4.0.90-r3) sulks if you have an 'Option PreferredMode 
1680 1050' statement on the DVI-0 monitor... The logs show it starting & 
running, but there's nothing on the display (A signal seems to be output 
though because the monitor doesn't goto sleep) and there's a 50:50 chance of 
the keyboard being working or mostly working (50% working, 50% seems to be 
unresponsive, no numlock light toggling, but CTRL-ALT-DEL seemed to still 
work).
