Hi,

I am running CentOS Linux 2.6.9-55.0.9.EL #1 and using X Window System
Version 6.8.2. Below is how I somehow messed up x server. It would be great
if you guys have any helpful tips on solving this.

I installed a .ttf font using kfontinst utility. While installing I
specified the install directory as /etc/fonts/. May be I should have
installed it in /usr/share/fonts or some other directory. But after
installation, all .dtd and .conf files under /etc/fonts/ looked something
like below.

--------- ? ? ? ? ? fonts.conf
?--------- ? ? ? ? ? fonts.dtd
?--------- ? ? ? ? ? local.conf

Later on I restarted my box but x server could never start. Then I grabbed
the copies of these files from my another centOS box with similar setup but
I am unable to start my x server in any case. After restart I keep getting
following message

"Display Server has been shutdown 6 times in last 90 seconds..."

In the /var/log/messeges I see following error::

kernel: mtrr: base(0xe8020000) is not aligned on a size(0x300000) boundary

In Xorg.0.log I dont see any errors but see some warns as below::

(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such file or directory)
*(WW) (1600x1200,Monitor0) mode clock 162MHz exceeds DDC maximum 140MHz

(II) I810(0): BIOS call 0x5f05 not supported, setting refresh with VBE 3

Please help. Thanks
