I don't thing that's a good approach, as it would necessitate
incorporating the CMM deeply into things. Better to pass down
a device link and leave the CMM higher up the stack. This

In fact, using a GPU is probably the only practical way of managing
color for video, short of the display hardware having explicit
support for 3D table color management.
(There is code to do this sort of thing in the OpenEXR libraries).
