That's indeed the case.  I've opened a bug with them in Launchpad at 
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/244137 for undercommunicating the fact.

The magic keywords that need to be added to the Device section in 
xorg.conf to make it work again are:

  Option "TexturedVideo" "true"

(Hoping that might save somebody like me some time.)
