Opera and EXA: ``X Shared memory extension is not available''

I've recently switched to Opera 9.5 on Linux, and on both x86 and
AMD64, Opera complains with:
opera: X Shared memory extension is not available. ZPixmap not supported
Xdpyinfo does show MIT-SHM fine, and xdpyinfo -ext MIT-SHM says
MIT-SHM version 1.1 opcode: 146, base event: 78, base error: 166
shared pixmaps: no
which I gather is okay.
Is there anything wrong with EXA and MIT-SHM? Or is that an Opera issue?
