Ok, so you are getting pipe underruns... We recently pushed a patch upstream 
to fix some regressions with the DSPARB programming in the patch you tried, 
and another at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16284 that may 
also help.  Otherwise there's 
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16169; you could add yourself to 
the Cc list if you still have problems with the latest bits.
