Upgrading xrandr1.1 to xrandr1.2

Hi Alan,
 
We want to do the autodetection of attached monitor to the display chip by 
 
xrandr -q
 
The xrandr -q works for both xrandr1.1 and xrandr1.2 but it is better in xrandr1.2.

Would seem a lot less risky and a lot better tested to move to
Xorg server 1.3 or newer, instead of trying to backport a lot
of code to an old release yourself and end up with something
no one else has ever used, tested, or can support.

Maybe it's time to re-examine whatever requirement you have for
using old software that few others still use.
