Intel 965GM - can't set resolution to 1280x800

Hi! I'm having a problem setting the resolution of this laptop (sony vaio
vgn-nr185e) to 1280x800.

The distro I have, Slackware 12, came with xf86-video-intel-2.0.0,
xorg-server-1.3.0.0. I failed to set the resolution to 1280x800, with the
vesa and intel drivers. With both intel and vesa, I got a 1024x768
resolution. The only difference is that with vesa, the screen is centered
(with black areas surrounding it), and with the intel driver, the screen is
at the top left corner, black area on the right side, and on the bottom part
the upper part of the screen is repeated/mirrored (as in, if firefox is
maximized, you can see its titlebar on the top and bottom portions of the
screen).

After that, I compiled xorg from git. Still, no luck-- I'm still getting a
1024x768 res.

I have tried specifying a modeline in xorg.conf but that didn't work.

Can anyone help me with this?

Attached is my Xorg.0.log and xorg.conf

Thanks!
