X1200: Monitor blanks closing XOrg

I had a Radeon 9600 (AGP), which worked fine for 3 years, and 
now switched to an onboard X1200 (at least for the time being), 
since I bought a new motherboard, etc.

The problem is that, when I move to a console or end the XOrg 
session, my monitor blanks. It doesn't start to work again if I 
power it off and on, but it resumes if I return to X.

BTW, is there DRI support for this card ? I have the r300 
driver, but it isn't loaded.

I'm using XOrg 1.4.0 with ATI driver 6.8.0.
