how to ignore monitor's EDID?

Right, have it in man radeon as well.

The only side effect is that now KDE4's panel has a 1024 px width when 
the session loads, even though the desktop starts with 1280 px width - 
and I have to resize it each time.

But I guess that's a question for KDE's mailing list...
