Well, I filed a bug in the redhat bugzilla:

Just in case anyone over there was interested; although it looks like a
simple error in backporting the i915 drm to me since the kernel.org
kernel works just fine.  I assume it will correct itself when FC9 moves
over to a 2.6.28 kernel.
