Using --disable-config-dbus --disable-config-hal when configuring will
drop the input mess and use the spec from xorg.conf.

I use them and --disable-builtin-fonts.  (Builtin-fonts breaks a *lot*
more than just Emacs.)

I don't know the fix for MetaSendsEscape.
