xserver 1.5 rc6: sudden keyboard delay

This is XKB SlowKeys, an accessibility feature. 
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=445898 describes a similar issue
which seems to be caused by gnome-settings-daemon.
