Radeon video corruption when switching to / from VT

Hi all.

On my Radeon ( X700 Mobility ), I get a corrupted display about 50% of
the time when switching to / from a VT. When it happens, I'll sometimes
get a coloured ( often green ) display that fades towards white over a
couple of seconds ( very strange effect ), or other times I'll get a
static display with some rectangles and semi-random looking corruption,
in a grey colour.

To recover, I can switch to a console ( if I'm in X ), or switch to X
( if I'm at a console ). This will *usually* fix it.

It's not a recent commit that did this. It's been happening for as long
as I've had this laptop.

Nothing appears in my dmesg output. Also nothing of note appears in my
X log, but I'm attaching it here anyway. This particular log is from a
session that gave me a corrupted display when restoring from
hibernation ... a couple of times ( ie each time I restored from
hiberation ).

Since there's nothing useful in this log, what can I do to gather more
info on what's going on?
