2048 size limit on virtual displays

Hm. I tried this patch:

But that seems not enough:
$ glxinfo -l | grep GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE
     GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE = 2048

And if I override the check in Compiz I still get a messed-up background
in the area >2048...

Any ideas? Do I need other patches, too?
