xserver 1.4 and bugid 10324 (x&y axis not scaled when reporting extension motion events)

Hello,

As I'm helping out with the wacom input driver, I'd like to have your 
opinion/confirmation on what the input drivers should report on the X & Y 
axis.

Background and details should be available in bugid 10324 [1], but to make a 
short recap; Prior to xserver 1.4 the min/max on x&y could be anything the 
driver desired and the server rescaled this to fit the screen (= asked the 
driver to do it). 1.4 doesn't seems to call the scale-functions anymore and 
therefore the driver must match its min/max to the screen resolution if the 
pointer should end up anywhere near where you'd like it to be.

Is the change/behaviour in what the drivers should report intentional and the 
way it should be?
