problem when compiling linking apps

Hi all,

when i try to compile apps (lets take xcalc as an example) i need to
add a LIBS="-lXau -lXdmcp -lXpm -lXext -lX11"
to my configure call, otherwise it fails when trying to find out if
the gcc can compile executables

seems like a dirty work around and i am sure there is a better method,
but i cannot find anything on the web

i am using a cross toolchain built with openwrt-x86

the actual X works and compiled with out any such problems, so i guess
i am missing something here
