Need advice: compiling xserver-Xephyr with evdev patches

hello everyone,

I am currently on ubuntu 7.10 (X.org 1.3)
I am trying to patch the xserver-xephyr source package with these patches
(http://www.c3sl.ufpr.br/multiterminal/howtos/xephyr-patches.tgz,
basically kdrive-evdev.patch, kdrive-ephyr-evdev.patch)

These patches are failing to apply, (may be patch is too old for xorg 1.3?)

what should I do now?
