Taking a closer look at the setup used, I realized that we still used
Driver "i810"
in the Device section to specify the driver to use. This seems to be
enough to break the device detection functionality in the reported way.
Bug ( https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12886 ) should now
maybe just reflect the fact that the intel driver cannot detect devices
correctly when called as i810; the behavior when called as intel is
different and successfully detects the 965GM.
Maybe it's time to remove the legacy link i810->intel as it does no
longer work 100% correctly?
