Hi,

New X-server 1.4 optionally uses hal to detect input devices. The
devices that advertise "input.keys", "input.keyboard" or "input.mouse"
are accepted for further checks, other type of input devices are skipped
automatically.

New HAL introduces "input.touchpad" capability as well, which is used
for touchscreens, for example. See
http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=hal.git;a=commit;h=b44cc7ffc6a8cf38c5e80d5f00885a4aae3876be

I think X-server should treat these kind of devices as input devices as
well. I have attached a patch that implements this change.
