"upgrade" from xf86-video-intel 2.1.1 to 2.2.0 locks up everything for the g33 Intel chipset

That lockup is a severe error. The keyboard freezes and the monitor goes
completely black (into extreme power saving mode). The only ways out of
the lockup are to hit the reset button or else ssh in from another machine
and execute shutdown.

My previous post to this list on this subject failed to mention that I do
not have the optional Intel add-on card installed. That may be significant
since the only error message was

(EE) intel(0): First SDVO output reported failure to sync

and I speculate some recent (post-2.1.1) driver change dealing with SDVO may
have made some incorrect assumption that an Intel add-on card was installed.

Is there anybody on this list who does have the graphics on the g33 chipset
working (with or without add-on card) with version 2.2.0 of
xf86-video-intel?

Since nobody has come up with a quick fix, I have now officially reported
this bug (with full details) at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13399.
