xbacklight on intel

Hi list,

I have a lifebook p7010 featuring an intel 855GM chipset. It works
pretty fine with the latest intel driver but I've never been able to
have software control of the backlight. xbacklight, for example, does
not work (using latest stable xserver as well). Using the Fn-key + F6
or Fn-key + F7 works fine, but that's working directly on the
hardware.

I'm not sure where to dig up more information that will be of use in
debugging this problem, please do tell.
