X server memory footprint growing continuously and monotonically over time

I have compareable problems with the intel driver using the Xorg
release deployed with Fedora7, using XAA with the intel-driver-2.1.

Sometimes X eats up memory (I had even ~500mb after 2 weeks), although
xrestop says only  20mb are used for pixmaps.
However in my case the memory useage does not seem to be steadily
rising, but rather triggered by some events which I was not able to
find out till now.
