How to switch from ARGB to BGRA colors?

Hello!

My graphics hardware (silicon motion sm501) need it's colors in
BGRA (8888) format and not in the usual ARGB.

How can I tell X and it's applications that they should write the
Pixels in BGRA format to the video memory?

I am able to change the code of the driver as well as the server.
Currently I am working in an non accelerated (XAA disabled) mode,
so XAA and EXA and friends are out of focus.
