i have a gma950 in my laptop with a 14" screen that allows resolutions
up to 1024x768. but even when i connect my 19" tft to the laptop, xrandr
says that the maximum screen size is 1024x1024, although the tft has a
native resolution of 1280x1024, which i'd like to use.
i thought the supported screen size was 2048x2048, so i'm a little bit
surprised by this output:

> $ xrandr
> Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 1024
> VGA connected (normal left inverted right)
> 1024x768 75.1 70.1 60.0
> 832x624 74.6
> 800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2
> 640x480 75.0 72.8 66.7 60.0
> 720x400 70.1
> LVDS connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 286mm x 214mm
> 1024x768 60.0*+ 50.0
> 800x600 60.3
> 640x480 60.0 59.9
> TMDS-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right)
> TV disconnected (normal left inverted right)

i have 2gb of memory installed, so that shouldn't limit the screen size aswell..
xorg-server is 1.3.0 and xf86-video-intel is 2.0.0
