local/remote how to detect?

That question gets even more troublesome when you worry about
"trust" in addition to "reliable".   The X server that I am working on
ranks "trust" above "reliable" so the XShm is not supported.

Why?  Not enuf brain cells to figure out how to secure a shared memory system...
