Xorg 1.1.1 + Mesa 6.5.2 = White screens with i810 driver and beryl/compiz

I'm not sure about the -fno-strict-aliasing bit here I'll double check.
How would I confirm this (configure option?, Makefile.am patch?). Do you
need to build all of Mesa with this or just the DRI section (the reports
I've read mentioned that only i965 DRI required this and as people with
R200/300 etc. have this problem I'd kinda discounted it)

Other users in this thread seem to report that even git HEAD of
everything has the problem so I don't think it's been fixed yet (I've
also trawled the git shortlogs looking for a magic fix, but not found
anything (not that I'd really know what to look for anyway - I was
hoping to find a log that said "Fix white screen issues with compositing
managers..." or similar :p)
