Radeon, MergedFB, Pseudo-Xinerama

Greetings.

I'm trying to set up Pseudo-Xinerama with MergedFB on my notebook. I've
been able to get it working in cloned mode, but Pseudo-Xinerama is not
going so well. I'm using xorg-server-1.2, and xf86-video-ati-6.6.3

I've finally got X *claiming* that it's setting things up properly, but
I get absolutely nothing on my 2nd monitor ( which is an LCD, if that
makes any difference ). X doesn't seem to be able to 'see' the LCD or
query any info from it ( the log says that a 2nd monitor was not
connected, but immediately after that says that MergedFB is forced on
anyway ... because I forced it on ... ). Should it be able to do this?
The external monitor is connected to a DVI connector, with a DVI ==> VGA
adaptor.

I'll make note of interesting things from the log, along with questions
and other stuff, and then post the whole log & config file underneath ...

Should it say this?

I forced these into the config file, taken from DDC info output to the X
log when the LCD was connected to another PC, so I *assume* they're correct.

(II) RADEON(0): Merged "1024x768" (1024x768) and "1024x768" (1024x768)
to 2048x768
This *sounds* exactly what I want. But I don't get it ...

(EE) RADEON(0): Virtual height to small for given CRT2Position offset
What does this mean? Also, this should be 'too small', not 'to small' ... :)

*This* bit I'm really confused about. My external LCD can only do
1280x1024, so I *don't* want this 1050 ( or 1049 as X is calling it )
height. This could be why the external LCD is not showing anything,
because it's out of range. Where is X getting this from anyway? I
thought it said before I had 2048 x 768 ... not 2048 x 1050. On this
point, Enlightenment-0.17 is detecting 2048 x 768 in the 'resolution'
config setting, but it's *rendering* at 2048 x 1050, and scrolling the
screen around to cover the difference between 1050 and 768. xrandr shows
2 modes:
