Just a random guess, and I don't know why this should make a difference, 
but try to build a single xorg.conf file, use sessions, and/or give each 
mouse/keyboard a unique name.

With sessions, it seems to work "out of the box", so perhaps there's 
something you're doing with multiple xorg.conf files that is messing you 
up....
