Sure. It just makes it easier for more people to read the messages
produced in your terminal.

Did you regenerate the autotools after applying the patches
(autogen.sh)? There should be a Makefile.am, Makefile.in and Makefile
in the GL/mesa/vbo directory before you run `make'?
