I do some of that at work while waiting for other builds to finish or when
otherwise procrastinating.   I've left a bunch of the janitorial bugs alone
so they can serve as introductory work for new developers getting into the
code, but apply patches from bugzilla and the like.

"less util/modular/build.sh" has always worked for me to find proper
build order.
