Full screen only uses part of screen

No, it doesn't.  Should it?  I guess xscreensaver takes over the
entire screen, too, but I'm not running Xinerama.

Or are you saying that when moving into full-screen mode the xserver
is reporting the incorrect geometry?

I guess I don't follow the connection.
