Xephyr crashing on 8 bit connection attempt

I tried something similar (without the -query part) to launch Xephyr on the
Xorg server running on my local machine, and it runs fine with Xephyr
from git master tip. What happens when you just try:

Xephyr :1 -ac -once -screen 800x600x8 -fb /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc/
