Okay thanks, it seems I2C works for you but it doesn't work for my box :-(

I've enabled I2C_DEBUG in src/i830_i2c.c and I get the following debug output:

Getting SDVOCTRL_E for SDVOB: v ^

I'm wondering if xf86-video-intel is using the correct I2C addresses (0x70 and
0x72). Is there an easy way to detect the I2C addresses?

My kernel can't probe i2c-i830 (only i2c-810) using the i2c-utils (from
lm_sensors).

Who knows what might be going on?

Thanks a lot,
Dick
