Alex,
first of all, thanks for the fast reply. You were right, even win is
using the card in agp 2x mode, so from now on I am using that too.
With agp 2x the cold startup problem is vanished again. But now I have
some messages in /var/log/kern.log. After X startup:

X is working properly, so is Xv! But if I start glxgears, there is a
reproducible lockup again:

machine using keys, so the kernel keeps running.
Putting ShadowStatus "off" into xorg.conf wont solve the problem, but
the kernel message is different:

and causing a hard lockup again!
With BCIforXv "off" the result is always soft lockup:

Can you please give any hints, do you think it is possible make GL and
Xv both work reliably?
If I am able to, I would like to help to trace down this matter. What
should I do to provide some more info?
