Intel 2.1.1 and HDTV tearing

I had the same issue with the i965 that came on my motherboard. I'm using a 50" DLP for display and it looked fairly horribly with all the tearing. 

I bought a $30 nvidia graphics card (7300 LE) and used the nvidia driver. No more tearing.

Fine. You can't get a new poney every day, I accept that.
