The old i810 driver relied on the BIOS to configure TV out. The new
intel driver programs the graphics hardware directly, and currently it
does not support TV-out on pre-915 hardware. 830-generation hardware
relied on separate, third-party TV encoder chips, and while these
chips are all publicly documented, no one has done the work to bring
support to the intel driver.

Intel employees have said this is one place that external developers
can contribute to the driver without Intel's documentation.
