There is a known leak in Xorg 7.2 when clients connect & disconnect.
It's fixed in head already, and should be included in the Xorg server 1.3
Release Candidates available now - a patch for 7.2 is available at:

(If I recall correctly, it's on the order of 4k per client disconnect.)
