Actually, it seems the upstream repository was somehow inconsistent in
the pci-reworks branch, and my git-fetch actually always failed :-/
I reset the pci-reworks branch locally to the branch point, and - voila,
git-fetch got everything, including the tag. No -t needed...

git is complex, sometimes.

I have files for all tags, and I thought that would be the default
location for storing tag information... It's getting stranger ever
since...

But thanks, anyway, the original issue is solved.
