So, I'll try to compile the new modesetting driver.
Does I necessarly need to upgrade the Xorg server to 1.2.99, mesa
6.5.2, libxrand 1.2 and libdrm 2.3? Or I can simply update libdrm and
the intel driver?

I'm using Debian Etch with xorg 7.1 and i810 1.7.4 currently. I've
asked to the debian-x folks and they said that the
xserver-xorg-video-intel 1.9.94 includes the needed xorg 1.3 headers
to compile (see
http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2007/04/msg00330.html).

I would like to stick with my current xorg version, if it's possible...

Another question, does ddc informations affect dpms behaviour? On my
notebook dpms don't work (the display after few minutes turned off
goes on randomly).

This is what ddc reports:

(II) LoadModule: "ddc"
(II) Reloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libddc.so

If I attach a second monitor on the external vga output, it reports
the same informations also on the other head (with 1280x800 maximum
resolution, attaching an lg 19" flat panel display which supports
1280x1024).

Thanks,
Emilio
