savage/IX-MV + DRI error on X Window 7.2???

DRI support is a bit flaky right now on the savages.  Fixing it up is
on my todo list, but I'm not sure when I'll get to it.  You might try
forcing PCI mode or disabling DMA (see the savage man page).
