Two mice with different sensitivity

Well, how do you choose between the two mice (i.e., how do you communicate
to the server which mouse to use)?  If on the command line, you can also
use the -a argument to set the acceleration (as in "xset m").

I'm not sure that acceleration would be the right thing to look at, though.
It only kicks in when you move the mouse (or trackball) quickly.  Do you
have the right degree of fine control on the trackball?

Then resolution should have an effect.  It indeed could be done easily in
a device independent manner, but so far that has not happened.  As for the
"resolution" option, that is part of the PS/2 spec, and is sent to the
hardware (and therefore is device dependent).
